CentOS is a Linux operating system that provides an open-source, fully community-supported, server computing platform. It was originally released in 2004 and is essentially an open-source version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), with a few minor differences. Unlike a lot of other open-source operating systems, CentOS maintains every distributed version for 10 years, with releases every 2 years.
